Injustice: Gods Among Us #17 gives us a new perspective on the world we see. At first through Catwoman who shows how much people are suffering due to fear and what villains took from them. Not just people, but those who lost everything and turn to small crimes to provide for their families. We’re at the point where not only is it dangerous for the defenseless, but even more dangerous to be on the wrong side of the law. From Catwoman’s point of view it is revealed the hypocrisy set forth by Superman and those who follow his lead thinking that killing villains is acceptable.
This issue is a step down from all the madness that has occurred up to this point. More so Nightwing’s death which is now looming over Batman’s head, as he has lost a friend and his son. Catwoman has obviously never been evil, she’s the anti-hero who takes from the rich and gives to the poor. So when confronted by a vulnerable Superman who needs her assistance with Bruce, she is the one to tell him where he has gone wrong and what he should really be doing for the world and little people. The tone is very light-hearted to get into the minds of both Superman and Batman, since what would have been considered an unbreakable friendship is now over due to conflicting views on heroics.
If there was anyone to better portray the emotion to be felt from both sides, Selina was the best pick and did just that. Does make you question, for those who played the game, what she did to be arrested later on?
And stay tuned!
