Everything is starting to fall into place as the reason for everything that is supposed to go wrong is about to be exposed. It has been a pretty lackluster meeting between Superior Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2099, but that’s not to say that everything else really grabs your attention.
It’s hard to say it but Spider-Man 2099 has been the weakest part of this story. At this point he almost feels forced just to give fans the chance to see him again. So much of this story could have easily been explained without his aid and while it makes sense for him to be there because of his father in the past, there really hasn’t been that emphasis on what the clear danger is to his future. His grandfather was a perfect villain and terms of him being a danger to Horizon Labs, but there really hasn’t been that care for how he affects his to be son when there is no attachment to any of them. As for what is going on in Horizon labs, it’s great that Dan Slott has gotten things back on track in terms of there possibly being that Otto could be exposed. While many have been content with things progressing without that looming over Otto’s head, it’s cool to see how easily someone he crosses could figure him out if need be.
Again I do have to say that Sipder-Man 2099’s dialogue is the one thing that brings this down. No matter how long he has spoken like this or how they speak in the future, but you really can’t take such situations seriously when his reactions sound cheesy.
Solid issue, but definitely could be better. It’s great to see Spider-Man 2099 again, but it would be better to see that this story doesn’t drag on with his presence too long. It was a good effort to have both cross paths though it could have been handled a lot better than it has been up to this point.
